I didn't see the Oscars but I was sort of surprised that Ang Lee got Best Director but Brokeback didn't get Best Picture, as they usually go hand in hand. Truthfully I haven't seen a one of the pictures that was nominated - I don't go to the movies much! I do love George Clooney, though. He's about the only modern day leading man that I find attractive. And as for the rap song, I suppose you had to see it in context with the movie, as Marilyn mentions. But I'm with you, I don't care for rap.

Love the yellow on the blog, as well as your "repeat" IF picture. So sunny and springy.

Living in Japan, every year, I am amazed at how much time and energy so many people spend on the Oscars....if it weren't for my sister in Seattle, I would probably not even know when the Academy Awards were. Most of the nominated movies aren't even shown here until after the awards are given out, and many times, not at all.

Don't get me wrong...I think it's great to acknowledge wonderful work, and all the festivites are fun to watch. And if I lived in the States, I'm sure I would be right there with everyone else, glued to the TV....^-^

I haven't seen ANY of the movies nominated. I only watch what we can get in hotel rooms during gymnastics season. That meant that I watched part of The Ringer with Alison and her friend before I "crashed." I LOVE George Clooney in every way. He is terrific.

Okay....I was the opposite of you on Crash too. I thought about it for DAYS. Saw it twice. I think that the interesting part was that you'd think "Oh...I don't feel that way about..." and you'd all of a sudden realize you HAVE thought a way that almost embarrasses you. It was an eye opener. I was pleased it won. I like a movie that makes you think about it for days after. And Jon and George on the same channel for hours on end???....I thought I'd died and gone to HEAVEN.

I was very disappointed that I didn't get to see any of the Oscars. Not even a single minute of it. But I'm glad that George and Reese won. I love them both, and they absolutely deserved it.

Since Crash was the only movie that I saw of the Best Pic nominees then I have nothing to compare it to. I thought it was interesting, disturbing, but interesting.

I was disappointed to see that P&P didn't win anything. Not a single Oscar! Oh well.

Speaking of...we have just started season 3 of Spooks. Every episode is better than the last! The cliff-hanger for season 2...wow. Sometimes the show is a bit depressing, but I still love it. Haven't had time yet to see In My Father's Den, but hopefully soon!

Please don't read what I wrote, 'cause you'll hate it...ha! :) I was shocked and very pleased that Crash won. I really, really liked it--saw it twice--but I didn't come away with it with the same perception you had. (Racism is something we live with daily, so I didn't find it depressing, although I should...I found it to be realistic.) And I was shocked and pleased that "Pimp" won for Best Song. If you haven't seen Hustle & Flow, it would seem odd based on last night's performance (by the songwriters). But in the film it was performed by Terence Howard's and Taraji P. Henson's characters and it was such a pivotal moment in the film...and truthfully, I found myself humming the hook for days afterward...so I thought it was a justified win. I am SO over George Clooney...but I can still see the appeal. So in other words, we had opposite reactions...ha! But we can still be coffee dates, right?! ;)

I didn't get to watch it either (on our way home from Harstine), but I was very pleased to hear that Reese Witherspoon won best actress. And I totally, 100% agree with you about George Clooney. (Lord, what a hunk, I mean great actor/director, etc.) I haven't seen Crash, but I recall that Roger Ebert really liked it, for what it's worth. Now that you've described it, I'm not so sure I'm hell-bent to see it.

I'm so sad, I ended up missing most of the show...Didn't get a chance to see it until almost the end, when Reese Witherspoon won.
I didn't see Crash so I don't have an informed opinion, but I was surprised that it wasn't one of the other favorites. Glad you got to see lots of Jon Stewart, I know you're a fan :>)
