Hello! I just came across your blog through http://www.agirlandaboy.com/journal/
Have you thought of checking with the Morgan Library in New York City? It's one of my favorite places: tons of illuminated manuscripts, drafts of now-famous works (e.g., "A Christmas Carol"), etc. http://www.themorgan.org/about/history.asp Good luck if you decide to do some research!

It must be fascinating to be able to trace your ancestors back so far!

nice to know.

I was always told when I was young, that my paternal great-great grandmother was the "lady-in-waiting" for the Queen of Bavaria. (Which would mean her maid). That's as close to blue blood as I get (if it's a true story - if there even WAS a queen of Bavaria). Also, my great grandfather loaned a guy $500 (a LOT of money back when) to start up a brewery. So began the Schlitz brewery -- and ol' Schlitz never paid back that $500 to Great Grandad!!

John Calhoun

You misspelled Colquhoun.

John's family has enough interesting information to write a novel. I'm wondering how many books about JP Morgan you're going to have to read before you find something??

I come from Scottish stock on my Dad's side. We have a deceased Scottish Nationalist poet in our family; next to Robbie Burns, the most famous. (Hugh McDiarmid--but his real name was Christopher Grieve) And Ashley is going back to stay with her boyfriend's family in Wisconsin after Christmas; his dad is a dairy farmer!
