I was downtown yesterday and saw these cool houses on NW Glisan and thought they were extraordinary. 

Lost in Austen...

British actor Elliot Cowan is AWESOME as Mr. Darcy in the new iTV (British) series called Lost in Austen. In Episode 3, he did the classic wet shirt move and it was pretty memorable.

Let's recap: 

Amanda Price (a Pride and Prejudice maniac) is miserable in present-day Hammersmith/London.  Elizabeth Bennett somehow emerges from the airing cupboard in her bathroom and Amanda goes into the cupboard to investigate.  Door closes.  Amanda ends up in the Bennetts house.  The family is just about to meet their new neighbor, Mr. Bingley.

Havoc ensues and Amanda tries to fix it.  Not so well.  Without Elizabeth there, all hell breaks loose.  Jane ends up marrying creepy Mr. Collins.  Bingley turns to drink and may be running off with Lydia in Episode 4.  Darcy falls in love with Amanda.  Bingley's sister comes on to Amanda...cooing and reciting Sapphic poetry. 

OooLaLa...

Ross has flown...

So...Ross has flown the nest...all the way to Scotland.  Where he is exhausted.  Didn't sleep at all on the plane.  Trying to stay up so that he can get on a 'normal' schedule.  Beat the Jet Lag.

Good for him.

We visited the Garfield House (Lawnfield) today, as well as having lunch out on Lake Erie.  Fun and photos...

Ohio Cousins Weekend..

Here I am traveling, again.

My cousins and I wandered over to a market in one of the public buildings downtown in Cleveland.  My Gosh, what I wouldn't give to have this in Portland.  Tons of stalls of fresh meats, cheeses, decadent desserts, fruits, vegetables, and MORE.  Incredible.

Loved the variety of hot sauces, especially.  My favorite was called Hell Fire and Damnation Hot Sauce.  Pictured here...

Then, we had lunch at a little brew pub that used to be a bar, frequented by Elliot Ness, in his day.  My beer was even named after him and was delicious.

Next over to a huge cemetary, where we toured the Garfield (as in President) Memorial.  It was beautiful, inside and out.  

Then to the Wade Chapel, which was designed and constructed by Tiffany.  The stained glass and the mosaics were luscious.

More fun tomorrow.

tennis gear...

Tennis outfits used to be classic white. Boring.

But I love watching the U.S. Open and seeing all the colorful outfits.  The tennis is great to watch.  The outfits just add to the fun.

back from LaJolla...

Yesterday (Sunday) was our last day in La Jolla.  We met Adam and Priya after breakfast and played some tennis, which was a lot of fun and good for us, given we would be boarding a plane later.  We later had lunch and then just hung out, reading the paper, for the rest of the afternoon.

What a great time we had!  We will see Adam again at the beginning of November, when we go to my cousin's 25th wedding anniversary party.  Then, he will be home for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I do look forward to having more time with him.
